Where Is Tesla Going To Get The Lithium And Graphite For The “Gigafactory”?

There were a few scientists in the early 20th century who tried to develop electro-magnetic power for the home, but they were murdered presumably (due to documented threats to the scientists themselves and their families) by affiliates of the major electrical utility corporations.

Having a small battery operated unit no bigger than the size of today's common home fuse box, is a very good idea, especially with how fragile the infrastructure of the 100- year- old electrical grid is; the ever more intense weather; the danger of nuclear and other types of electrical production; and the costs of maintaining and repairing such.

As a teacher I have to grit my teeth when the electric company comes out to the school and makes a real cutesy show on how to "conserve energy" and to tell the kids to tell their families. That's would by like McDonalds coming out to the school and telling the kids to limit how many hamburgers they eat, because McDonald's doesn't want to have the outlay expense of providing a lot of hamburgers. People in a democratic free enterprise just go and get what they need and want somewhere else, who can provide the product at an affordable price. Correct? Or not?

When I was a girl I read in my Geography textbook that America is great because we have cheap and plentiful power. That is not the case today, everyone thinks twice about their electric bill. I personally resent the money spent on way too high utility bills while trying to raise my family. It is too much overhead for businesses and public places, such as our military and hospitals. Not too mention other types of industry. The high cost of electricity may even be impacting our Nation's space program, and mankind's progress beyond that.

I truly hope Tesla succeeds. I realize that developing an industry that would disassemble such a huge utility as America's electrical giants would not be easy. However, the utility corporations really do need to be responsible, diversify their holdings, and move on. Hopefully they won't move on to "managing water", or if they do, our elected officials will end those actions, too.
