Date: Monday, April 1, 2019 5:34 AM EDT

Everyone is conscious of their own body, as everyone would prefer to look at the mirror and not cringe while doing so. Now, the body fat scale can help you out when it comes to figuring out just how much you should weigh, how much body fat percentage you are allowed to have, how much you should workout and more. However, it can be a bit hard to figure out just how much you do have. Body fat is a kind of a tricky thing to figure out, it is hard to track and tough to calculate, and most people tend to go way off when it comes to estimates of their own. Thus, here are some things you should know about it that might just help you out.

What is body fat?

In the simplest sense, body fat is the amount of fat that is inside of your body when compared to all the other things that you have inside of you which includes your muscles, organs, tendons, water, and more. Women and men tend to have different percentages of body fat because they are composed of different things. A ripped male can have a body fat percentage of about three or four percent whereas a ripped female would only have about eight to nine percent. This means that the sense of being ripped varies from one person to another in the long run.

What is a good amount to have?

As for the essential fat, there is about two to four percent in men and ten to twelve percent in women. If you are an athlete, then fourteen to twenty percent of fat, if you are a woman and six to thirteen percent if you are a man, would be ideal. For fitness purposes, twenty-one to twenty for percent for women and fourteen to seventeen percent for men is the thing you have to maintain. Essential fat is the minimum amount of fat that you must have in order to survive. With that said, it would be good as long as you stay healthy and be able to function properly without having to go below these limits.

How to calculate?

There is actually a body fat scale that is available online that you can check out to know on what bracket you belong to. There are different ones, and you might need to do some measurements, but it is going to be really easy, and you’ll find out what category you are in.
