Yes, that is an important distinction. I'll give @[Shelly Palmer](user:4838) another example to further that argument. I used to work at on online store and we also sold items on #eBay and #Amazon to get access to their millions of customers, just as app maker sell their apps on #Apple and Google's app stores. But we charged a little more on Amazon/eBay to cover the higher fees. Customers knew they could always buy them directly at our site for a bit less.

But Amazon and Ebay never said we were forbidden to sell items for less on our own site. That would be completely unfair in my mind. And it seems like there is some collusion between Apple and Google if this is their policy.

Unethical... sure. But illegal? How is it illegal that #Amazon exploited some weaknesses in the #eBay system? Violating a website's terms of use is grounds for being suspended or kicked off that site, but you can't go to jail for it. How can eBay claim this is illegal behavior? $AMZN $EBAY

Good point. And that was far from #Uber's only crime. They are probably one of the most unethical companies around. Yet they still make a bundle. Same with #Amazon. Even if they lose in court, it will likely amount to a minor slap on the wrist - a tiny percentage of the profits they reaped from this activity.

As long as the punishments are insignificant, the crimes will continue as the reward far outweighs the risk. I hope #eBay wins.

There is some truth to what Craig says. Companies always need to be wary of the competition. #eBay should either have had better safeguards in place, or even better, had they had better terms for their sellers, #Amazon would never have been able to steal them in the first place.

Why did #Ebay abandon #PayPal and who the heck is #Ayden? I never heard of them but would love to know the story of what the catalyst for such a monumental change was.

It can't simply be a matter of lower processing fees or surely Paypal would have matched them.

#eBay dropped #PayPal for #Ayden. That's going to severaly hurt PayPal. Who knows how much longer they'll be around? Between the disolution of their longstanding partnership with ebay, and increased competition from traditional credit cards and the new wave of cryptocurrencies, I'd say $PYPL's days are numbered.

I was initially surprised to hear that #eBay would no longer be using #PayPal as it's payment processor. But you've made an eloquent case showing that this will not be have a critical impact. I have a love/hate relationship with #Ebay. I agree it is still the go-to place to sell my stuff. They've done a great job on cornering the auction market. That being said, I think they've completely dropped the ball and let #Amazon eat into their overall used-goods market share. They consistently fail to be innovative while Amazon is always leading in innovation. Perhaps the company's foray into structured date will have an impact as the author suggests.

I couldn't agree with this article more. #eBay has always been underated, overshadowed by #Amazon's success. But ebay isn't going anywhere. It's still the best place to go if you need to sell an item, and far safer than a place like Craig's list. $EBAY $AMZN

Good read, but you lost me on the whole structured/unstructured data concept. When I want to find an item on #eBay, I do a search for that item. Why would I care who the seller is, or where he lives, or what letter his last name starts with? What am I missing?
