My name is Christoph and I am the author and mind behind just-dividends.com. I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself in this section so you can get to know the face behind the logo. Originally from Germany, I have spent the last couple of years digging up and replanting my roots by leaving the security of a job, friends, and family behind to move across the Atlantic Ocean to become a permanent resident of Canada. The decision to leave my country of origin was not an easy one as you can imagine - or maybe even have experienced yourself - but getting to know Canada and its residents while on a working holiday from 2015-16 built the confidence that I had found my new home. I was able to travel from coast to coast, getting by through working odd jobs, to explore cities like Vancouver and Calgary, rural parts of Alberta as well as remote spaces in Newfoundland. And while the application to become a permanent resident was draining, the real challenges started after I settled over in late 2017. Whether it was navigating the healthcare and tax systems, applying or interviewing for a job, there are a lot of differences even if Germany and Canada have a very similar standard of living and a comparable education system. But within just 3 years I was able to pick up my career from where I left it in Germany and build enough relationships to grow from a support team member and IT consultant to a tech lead within an ambitious startup. During this time, my interest in personal finance through investing as a safety net and my drive for developing a secondary income stream through my portfolio have grown with every book Ive read, every blog and podcast Ive followed, and every stock Ive purchased since I started my journey in 2016. In late 2019, the time had come to combine my skills and knowledge in technology with my passion for and experience with investing to create this blog from the ground up. I felt that my financial understanding had grown to a level where I was confident enough to share my ideas and findings with other investors, ranging from novice to well-versed, with the goal to learn and grow together. Ultimately, I would like to see just-dividends.com evolve into a staple resource for investors and create a place to exchange thoughts about the market and strategies such as dividend growth investing.
