P.S.  Race is an entirely different issue, and every bit as destructive.  As I have written, Barack Obama has been a racist most of his life, and has exacerbated the issue of racism in America.  See, e.g., https://naegeleblog.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/is-barack-obama-a-racist/ ("Is Barack Obama A Racist?")

Like a festering wound, it won't go away.  Indeed, the thugs, slugs, hoods and mongrels of "Black Lives Matter," Antifa and other far-Left groups have burned our cities; killed or injured innocent Americans including our police; and destroyed black and other businesses.  Yet, with the exception of limited cases, they have never been punished; and thus, they continue to perpetuate their unbridled and natonally-divisive rage.

Thank you for your thoughts.  Yes, I agree that a "reconciliation" might be best, but I don't see it happening, short of a 9/11-type event, whereby our country is attacked.  Never forget that before that tragedy, New Yorkers were considered to be brash, crass and uncouth by large swaths of America.  Their heroism changed those perceptions, temporarily.  Donald Trump is a rough-and-tumble New Yorker who descended on "good ole boy," inbred Washington like a whirlwind, upsetting multi-decade established norms and yes, corruption.  For lots of us who knew official Washington well, he was and is a breath of fresh air.  To others, he is the "devil incarnate."  As I have written in a recent article here, it is not beyond the pale of reason to believe there might be serious threats against his life.  Both Lincoln and Reagan challenged the established order.  One was killed, and the other was attacked and might have died.

Yes, yours is a reasoned answer.  But this ref, Ronald Tolbert, was incompetent; and there was no way to check him.  Please read some of the comments beneath the article that I cited in footnote 3, and you will see how enraged the fans were and are, and justifiably so.
