Founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Plano, Texas, Spok Holdings (SPOK) is a provider of healthcare communications.

The company offers its services and products to three market segments: healthcare, government, and large enterprise, with a greater emphasis on the healthcare market segment.

Geographically, the company generates the majority of its revenue from the United States.

The company was formerly known as USA Mobility, Inc. and changed its name to Spok Holdings, Inc. in July 2014.

Three key data points gauge Spok Holdings or any dividend paying entity, namely:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those keys also show if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

SPOK Price

SPOK’s price grew just over 3.5% last year from $15.98 to $16.55 as of Wednesday’s closing price.

SPOK Dividends

SPOK has paid variable quarterly dividends since March, 2007. The current forward looking annual dividend of $1.25 yields 7.55% per Wednesday’s $16.55 closing price.

SPOK Returns

Putting it all together, a $4.70 estimated gross gain per share shows up when adding SPOK’s annual $1.25 dividend to an estimated $3.45 analyst estimated annual price gain, totaling that $4.70 gross gain.

A little under $1000 invested at the recent $16.55 price would buy 60 shares which, multiplies the $4.70 gross gain to $282.00.

Furthermore over 25% of that $282.00 gain comes from the $75.50 in dividends generated from a $1,000 investment, and the $75.50 amounts to over 4.5 times more than the recent $16.55 single-share price.

(A dividend dogcatcher rule is to never buy a dividend from $1000 invested that pays less than the cost of a single share.)

Therefore, you may choose to pounce on Spok Holdings and its 7.55% dividend yield along with its 18 year dividend record.

The exact track of SPOK’s future prices and dividends will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
