Huntington Bancshares Inc (HBAN) is a regional US bank with around $200 billion in assets (as of September 2024) and has a large presence, particularly in the Midwestern US.

It offers a full suite of consumer deposit and lending services, along with commercial services focused on payments, investment management, capital markets, equipment financing, treasury management, and other common banking services.

The company was founded in 1866 and is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.

Three key data points gauge Huntington Bancshares,or any dividend paying firm.

The key three are:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three keys also best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

HBAN Price

Huntington Bancshares’ price increased about 13% in the past year from $13.05 to $14.75 as of Tuesday’s market close.

In the past 5 years the company’s share price has ranged from $6.83 to $18.20. (BTW HBAN’s all-time high, of $30.89 was reached back in June 1999.)

Should the company conform to the median of one year price targets estimated by 19 analysts covering HBAN for brokers, share price could grow to $18.00 or more in the coming year.

HBAN Dividend

Huntington has paid variable quarterly dividends since April 1996.

The company’s most recent Q dividend of $0.16 was declared January 17th for shareholders of record prior to March 18th, and the payout is due April 1st.

A forward looking annual dividend of $0.62 yields 4.20% per Friday’s $14.75 closing price.

HBAN Returns

Putting it all together, a $3.87 estimated gross gain per share shows up by adding HBAN’s annual $0.62 dividend to the estimated $3.25 estimated annual gross price gain, totaling that $3.87.

A little over $1000 buys 68 shares at Tuesday’s $14.75 share price.

A $10 broker fee (if charged), collected half at purchase and half at sale, might take about $0.15 per share out of the $3.87 gross-gain.

That subtraction gives us a $3.72 net amount per share to multiply by 68 shares, to equal $252.96 (or about a 25.25%) as estimated net gain for the coming year.

Furthermore, $42.00 in annual dividend income from your$1,000 investment in Huntington Bancshares is about 2.85 times greater than the single-share price.

By these numbers, HBAN could be an ideal dividend dog by dogcatcher standards.

Therefore, you may choose to pounce on Huntington Bancshares.

It is a 159 year-old, quarterly dividend-paying, Ohio regional bank, with a 29-year quarterly dividend-record.

The exact track of HBAN future price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
