Daily Stock Analysis: Weyco Group Inc. (WEYS)

Weyco Group Inc., known by the ticker symbol WEYS, is a Small cap footwear and accessories company in the consumer cyclical business sector. This is my first report on Weyco for my Viital stock portfolio. I selected Weyco and my 24th selection for the Vista portfolio (my sixth), back on February 19th this year.

Weyco Group Inc. (WEYS) is engaged in manufacturing, designing, and distributing footwear. The company designs and markets footwear for men, women, and children.

The company organizes its business into two segments; (1) the North American wholesale and (2) the North American retail segment. It markets its apparel, accessories, and footwear under the brand names Florsheim, Nunn Bush, Stacy Adams, BOGS, Rafters, and Umi.

The company operates in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia among others. It generates a majority of its revenue from the United States.

The company was formerly known as Weyenberg Shoe Manufacturing Company and changed its name to Weyco Group, Inc. in April 1990.

Weyco Group, Inc. was incorporated in 1906 and is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Three key data points gauge any dividend equity or fund such as Weyco Group Inc. (WEYS):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

WEYS Price

Weyco's price per share was $24.04 as of yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $17.70. So, WEYS's share price rose a little over 35.8% in the past year.

If Weyco's stock trades in the range of $16.00 to $28.00 this next year, its recent $24.04 share price could rise by $1.86 to reach $26.00 by November 23, 2022. My estimate is in line with that of the analyst who covers the Weyco group for a brokerage house.

WEYS Dividends

Weyco's most recently announced a quarterly dividend of  $0.24 will pay out December 31st to shareholders of record on November 26th. The compounded annual payout of $0.96 yields 3.99% per yesterday's $24.04 closing price.

Weyco Group Inc. has paid quarterly dividends increasing generally annually since July 1985. That is 36 years of increasing payouts.

WEYS Returns

Adding the $0.96 annual estimated WEYS forward-looking dividend to my $1.96 price upside estimate shows a $2.92 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade WEYS shares.

At yesterday's $24.04 price per share, a little over $1000 would buy 42 shares.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at sale and might cost us $0.24 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.24 brokerage cost from my estimated $2.92 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $2.68 X 42 shares = $112.56 for an 11.25% net gain on a $1,009.68 investment.

So it is that Weyco Group Inc. shows a possible 11.25% net gain including a 3.99% forward estimated dividend yield.

Over the next year at this time, a $1000 investment in Weyco Group Inc.  could generate $39.90 in cash dividends alone. Note that a single share of WEYS bought at yesterday's closing price was $24.04! Thus, Weyco Group Inc.'s share price is $15.86 less than the dividend income from $1000.00 invested. Thus, according to my dogcatcher ideal, now is prime time to pick up Weyco Group Inc shares. The estimated next-year dividend from $1k invested is  $15.86 over the single share price. Consider yourself alerted. It's a sign!  Now it may be a time to buy Weyco Group Inc. shares.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Weyco Group Inc. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its market value.
