Today we look at a mid-cap Ohio Regional Bank named TFS Financial Corp. Its trading ticker symbol is TFSL. This is my first ever report on TFS Financial Corporation for this portfolio or any of my previous portfolios.

TFS Financial Corp i is the holding company for the Third Federal Savings and Loan Association of Cleveland.

The company's ownership in the savings and loan association is its primary business activity. The association's principal business consists of originating and servicing residential real estate mortgage loans and attracting retail savings deposits.

It does so by offering products with competitive rates and yields. The company also operates Third Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary that serves as a holding company or as an investor in vehicles such as private equity funds.

Third Capital has interests in lease transactions of commercial buildings, title agencies providing escrow and settlement services, and reinsurance of private mortgage insurance on residential loans.

The company provides its products and services through its main office in Cleveland, Ohio; and 37 full-service branches and 7 loan production offices located throughout the states of Ohio and Florida.

The company was founded in 1938 and is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. TFS Financial Corporation is a subsidiary of Third Federal Savings and Loan Association of Cleveland, MHC.

Three key data points gauge dividend equities or funds like TFS Financial Corp:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

TFSL Price

TFS Financial's price per share closed at $20.28 yesterday. A year ago its price was $22.24. Price per share has only recovered from the Covid recession by about 88% this past year.

If TFS Financial Corp stock trades in the range of $12 to $22 this next year, its recent $20.28 price might rise by $0.92 to reach $22.10 by February 23, 2022. That's in line with the company's 40 years average $0.99 annual price upside.

TFSL Dividends

TFS Financial's most recently declared quarterly dividend was $0.28 paid out on December 15th. Dividends are estimated to total $1.12 per share annually and yield 5.52% at yesterday's $20.28 closing price.

TSFL Returns

Adding the $1.12 annual TFSL anticipated dividend to my $0.92 price upside shows a $2.04 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

Put little under $1,000.00 today in TFS Financial Corp at $20.28 per share and we'd buy 49 shares of TFSL stock.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at a sale and might cost us about $0.20 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.20 brokerage cost from my estimated  $2.04 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $1.84 X 49 shares = $90.16 for a 9.02% net gain on a $993.72 investment.

TFS Financial Corp shows a possible 9% net gain including a 5.52% dividend. And now the annual dividend from $1,000 invested pays out more than the company's single share price, and yesterday's closing price was under $22.00! So, if TSFL  is your kind of company, the price is where the dividend income from $1,000 invested truly exceeds the single share price. You might have a block of stocks to hold forever, no matter where the price rises or falls. The dividend has increased every year for the past eight years.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of TFS Financial Corp. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
