Daily Stock Analysis: Paramount Global

Paramount Global with the ticker PARA, is a large-cap entertainment company operating in the communication services business sector. This is the second of five communication candidates competing for the forty-seventh slot in my Viital folio. It is my first ever report on PARA for my Viital portfolio or any of my previous portfolios.
Paramount Global is the rebranded recombination of CBS and Viacom that has created a media conglomerate with a global scale.
CBS contributed Showtime in addition to its television assets--the CBS television network, 28 local TV stations, and 50% of CW, a joint venture between CBS and WarnerMedia.
Viacom brought several leading cable network properties, including Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central, VH1, CMT, and Paramount.
Paramount Pictures produces original motion pictures and owns a library of 2,500 films, including the Mission: Impossible and Transformers series.
Paramount operates a number of streaming services, most notably Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
Paramount Global was formerly known as ViacomCBS Inc. and changed its name to Paramount Global in February 2022.
The company was incorporated in 1986 and is headquartered in New York, New York. Paramount Global operates as a subsidiary of National Amusements, Inc.
Three key data points gauge any dividend equity or fund such as Paramount Global:
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.
PARA Price
Paramount’s price per share was $24.56 as of yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $40.33. Thus, PARA’s share price collapsed by $15.77 or about 39% in the past year.
If Paramount’s stock trades in the range of $16.00 to $40.00 this next year, its recent $24.56 share price might rise by $4.44 to reach $29.00 by next year. My $4.44 upside estimate is $0.79 below the median of one-year targets aimed at by 25 analysts covering PARA for brokers.
PARA Dividends
Paramount’s most recently declared quarterly dividend of $0.24 is payable on October 3rd, to shareholders on record as of September 14th. You have a few weeks to get in on this dividend.
Since October 1, 2003, PARA has paid quarterly variable dividends increasing annually since July 1, 2010. The current forward-looking quarterly dividend of $0.24 projects an annual dividend of $0.96 yielding 3.91% as of yesterday's $24.56 share price.
PARA Returns
Adding the $0.96 PARA annual dividend to my estimated one-year price upside estimate of $4.44 shows a $5.40 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade Paramount shares.
At yesterday's $24.56 closing price, a little over $1000 would buy 41 shares.
A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at a sale and might cost us $0.24 per share.
Subtract that maybe $0.24 brokerage cost from my estimated $5.40 gross gain estimate per share results in a net gain of $5.16 X 41 shares = $211.56, for a 21.15% net gain including a 3.91% forward-looking annual dividend yield.
Over the next year, our $1K investment in Paramount shares could generate $39.10 in cash dividends. Of course, a single share of PARA stock bought at yesterday's $24.56 price is almost $15 LESS than the dividend income from our $1000.00 investment.
So, by my dogcatcher ideal, this prime time to pick up Paramount Global shares based on their forward-looking dividends for the year 2022. The forecast annual dividend from $1K invested is $14.54 greater than yesterday’s single share price. Consider yourself alerted. It's a sign. Now IS the time.
All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Paramount Global. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its market value.
