Daily Stock Analysis: Old Republic International (ORI)
Old Republic International, known by the ticker symbol ORI, is a diversified insurance firm in the Financial Services Sector. This is my first report on ORI for my Viital stock portfolio, However, I last reported on ORI on November 5, 2020, when I selected it for my Vista portfolio.
Old Republic International Corp. offers a diverse range of specialized insurance products to individuals and institutions.
The firm's property-casualty business, which accounted for more than half of premium in 2012, and almost 80% of pretax operating income, offers commercial liability products for risks that include workers' compensation, autos, and general liability. The title insurance business composes most of the remaining premium, with a minor assist from a tiny life insurance presence
Old Republic International Corporation was founded in 1923 and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

Three key data points gauge dividend equities or funds like Old Republic International (ORI):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.
ORI Price
Old Republic International Corp's price per share was $24.56 as of yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $15.48 So ORI's share price increased about 58.7% in the past year.
If ORI's stock trades in the range of $16.00 to $32.00 this next year, its recent $24.56 price might rise by $3.44 to reach $28.00 by October 7, 2022. My estimate is in line with the median of annual price upsides calculated by 2 brokerage analysts tracking the stock.
ORI Dividends
Old Republic International Corp's most recent regular quarterly dividend of $0.22 was paid out Wednesday, October 6 to shareholders. That quarterly payout of $0.22 equates to $0.88 annually and yields 3.58% based on yesterday's 24.56 closing price. Old Republic International Corp has paid annually increasing dividends for forty years.
ORI Returns
Adding the $0.88 annual Old Republic International Corp forward-looking dividend to my $3.44 price upside estimate shows a $4.32 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade ORI shares.
At yesterday's $24.56 price per share, a little over $1000 would buy 41 shares.
A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at sale and might cost us about $0.24 per share.
Subtract that maybe $0.24 brokerage cost from my estimated $3.44 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $3.20 X 41 shares = $131.20 for a 13.12% net gain on a $1.006.96 investment.
So it is that Old Republic International Corp. (ORI) shows a possible 13.12% net gain including a 3.58% forward estimated dividend yield.
Over the next year at this time, a $1000 investment in Old Republic International Corp (ORI) could generate $35.80 in cash dividends alone. And a single share bought at yesterday's closing price was $24.56! Thus, ORI's share price is $11.24 less than the dividend income from $1K invested. So, according to my dogcatcher ideal, now is the time to pickup ORI shares. The dividend from $1k invested is 11.24 greater than the single share price. Consider yourself alerted. Its a sign!
All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Old Republic International Corp. (ORI). Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its market value.
