New York Community Bancorp Inc., known by the ticker symbol NYCB is a Mid-cap regional bank, operating in the financial services business sector. This is my first ever report on NYBC for this Viital portfolio or any of my previous six folios.

New York Community Bancorp Inc is the bank holding company for New York Community Bank. It is a New York State-chartered savings bank that operates through eight local divisions: Queens County Savings Bank, Roslyn Savings Bank, Richmond County Savings Bank, Roosevelt Savings Bank, and Atlantic Bank in New York; Garden State Community Bank in New Jersey; Ohio Savings Bank in Ohio, and AmTrust Bank in Florida and Arizona. The bank competes for depositors in the diverse markets with a comprehensive menu of products and services, and access to multiple service channels, including online banking, mobile banking, and banking by phone. It is also a producer of multi-family loans in New York City.

The company was formerly known as Queens County Bancorp, Inc. and changed its name to New York Community Bancorp, Inc. in November 2000. New York Community Bancorp, Inc. was founded in 1859 and is based in Hicksville, New York.

Three key data points gauge any dividend equity or fund such as New York Community Bancorp Inc (NYCB).

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

NYCB Price

New York Community Bancorp’s price per share was $10.14 as of yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $12.09. Therefore, NYCB’s share price fell by $1.95 or about 16%% in the past year.

If NYCB’s stock trades in the range of $8.00 to $14.00 this next year, its recent $10.14 share price might rise by $2.36 to reach $12.50 by June 3, 2023. My $2.36 upside estimate is $0.46 under the median of annual price increases calculated by thirteen analysts covering NYCB for broker firms.

NYCB Dividends

New York Community Bancorp’s most recently declared a quarterly dividend of $0.17 was paid, on May 19, 2022, to shareholders on record as of May 6th.

NYCB initiated a quarterly $0.02 dividend as of May 15, 1997. The dividend increased generally annually to $0.25 in 2015. However, as of  2/19/2016, the Q dividend was reduced to $0.17 which has remained including May’s quarterly payout. Its forward-looking payouts now equate to $0.68 annually and that annual payout is calculated to deliver a 6.7% annual yield per yesterday’s $10.14 share price.

NYCB Returns

Adding the $0.68 NYCB annual dividend to my estimated one-year price upside of $2.36 upside estimate shows a $3.04 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade NYCB shares.

At yesterday's $10.14. the closing price per share, a little over $1000 would buy 99 shares.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at the sale and might cost us about $0.10 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.10 brokerage cost from my estimated $3.04 gross gain estimate per share results in a net gain of $2.94 X 99 shares = $291.06 for a 29% net gain including a 6.7% forward-looking dividend yield.

So is that New York Community Bancorp Inc. shows a possible 29% net gain including a 6.7% forward-looking dividend yield.

Over the next year, this time our $1000 investment in New York Community Bancorp Inc shares might generate $67.10 in cash dividends. Of course, a single share of NYCB stock bought at yesterday's $10.14 price is over one-sixth the dividend income from our $1000.00 investment.

So, by my dogcatcher ideal, this is a perfect time to pick up New York Community Bancorp Inc. shares based on their forward-looking dividends for the year 2022. The forthcoming annual dividends from $1K invested are estimated to be 6.6 times more than yesterday's single share price. Consider yourself alerted. It's a sign.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of New York Community Bancorp Inc. (NYCB). Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its market value.
