Daily Stock Analysis: NACCO Industries (NC)

NACCO Industries Inc. is known by the ticker symbol NC and is a member of the energy business sector as nano cap thermal coal enterprise. This is my second report on NACCO Industries Inc for this Vista portfolio. My previous report was on October 1, 2020.

NACCO Industries Inc. is a holding company that operates primarily in the mining industry.

The company's operating segments include Coal Mining, North American Mining (NA Mining), and Minerals Management.

It generates maximum revenue from the Coal Mining segment. The Coal Mining segment operates surface coal mines under long-term contracts with power generation companies and an activated carbon producer pursuant to a service-based business model.

The North American Mining segment provides value-added contract mining and other services for producers of aggregates, lithium, and other minerals; and contract mining services.

Minerals Management segment is involved in the leasing of its royalty and mineral interests to third-party exploration and production companies, and other mining companies and provides lease maintenance services

NACCO Industries, Inc. was founded in 1913 and is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

Three key data points gauge dividend equities or funds like NACCO Industries, Inc. (NC):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

NC Price

NACCO's price per share was $26.08 as of yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $23.43. So NC's price has gained over 11.3% in the past year.

Should NC's stock trade in the range of $18 to $38.00 this next year, its recent $26.08 price might rise by $5.42 to reach $31.50 by July 2, 2022. My estimate is$3.00 lower than the median of annual price gains estimated by another analyst tracking NC for a brokerage house.

NC Dividends

NACCO's most recent quarterly dividend payout of $0.1975 was paid June 15, 2021, and equates to $0.79 annually to yield 3.03% annually based on yesterday's $26.08 closing price. NC has paid increasing annual dividends for 36 years.

NC Returns

Adding the $0.79 annual NC forward-looking dividend to my $5.42 price upside estimate shows a $6.21 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade NACCO Industries, Inc. shares.

At yesterday's $26.08 price per share, a little under $1000 would buy 38 shares.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at a sale and might cost us $0.26 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.26 brokerage cost from my estimated $6.21 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $5.95 X 38 shares = $226.10 for a 22.6% net gain on a $991.04 investment.

So it is that NACCO Industries, Inc. shows a possible 22.6% net gain including a 3.03% forward estimated dividend yield.

Over the next year at this time, a $1000 investment in NC would generate $30.30 in cash dividends. And a single share bought at yesterday's closing price was $26.08! Thus, NC's share price is almost $4.00 less than the dividend income from $1K invested. So, according to the dividend dogcatcher ideal, this is the prime time to pick up NACCO because the dividend from $1k invested exceeds the single share price. So consider yourself primed.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of NACCO Industries, Inc. (NC). Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its true worth.
