Stock Analysis: Kimball International

Kimball International Inc has the ticker symbol KBAL and is a member of the Industrials sector as a furniture manufacturer. This is my second report on Kimball International Inc for this Vista portfolio. Kimball International Inc operates in the furniture manufacturing business.

The company consolidated its furniture business and manufactures office and hospitality furniture exclusively. The company's core market areas include commercial, hospitality, healthcare, education, government, and finance.

The firm's furniture brand portfolio comprises Kimball, National, and Kimball Hospitality.

It markets and sells its products through sales representatives, office furniture dealers, wholesalers, brokers, designers, purchasing companies, and catalog houses to end-users.

The company was formerly known as The Jasper Corporation and changed its name to Kimball International, Inc. in July 1974.

Kimball International, Inc. was incorporated in 1939 and is headquartered in Jasper, Indiana.

Three key data points gauge dividend equities or funds like Kimball International Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

KBAL Price

Kimball International Inc's price per share closed at $13.86 yesterday. One year ago its price was $10.96. Price per share has increased about 26% from the midst of last year's Covid market slump.

Should Kimball International's stock trade in the range of $10.00 to $20.00 this year, its recent $13.86 price might rise by $2.14 to reach $16.00 by April 15, 2022. My estimate is however $ 0.50 lower than the median of two estimates from analysts tracking the stock.

KBAL Dividends

Kimball's most recently declared quarterly dividend, paid today, April 15th, is $0.09 which equates to $0.36 annually and yields 2.60% at yesterday's $13.86 closing price. KBAL has paid quarterly dividends increasing annually for 6 years.

KBAL Returns

Adding the $0.36 annual KBAL anticipated dividend to my $2.14 price upside estimate shows a $2.50  potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

Put little under $1,000.00 today in Kimball International Inc at $13.86 per share and we'd buy 72 shares of KBAL stock.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at a sale and might cost us about $0.14 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.14 brokerage cost from my estimated $2.50 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $2.36 X 72 shares = $169.92 for a 17% net gain on a $997.22 investment.

Kimball International Inc shows a possible 17% net gain including a 2.6% dividend yield.

Over the next year at this time, a $1000 investment in KBAL could generate $26.00 in cash dividends. And a single share bought at yesterday's closing price was about $13.90! So, if KBAL is your kind of industrials furniture manufacturing investment, their single share price is well under the annual dividend income from $1,000 invested. This suggests the now might be a good time to add Kimball International Inc to your holdings.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Kimball International Inc. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
