Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. bears the ticker symbol BSET, and this is my first mention of BSET for this Viking Portfolio or any of y previous seven dog of the week portfolios.
Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. is a manufacturer, importer, and retailer of home furnishings products in the United States. It operates through the following segments: The Wholesale segment focuses on the design, manufacture, sourcing, sale, and distribution of furniture products. The Retail segment consists of company-owned stores.
Bassett Furniture Industries, Incorporated was founded in 1902 and is based in Bassett, Virginia.
Three key data points gauge BSET or any dividend-paying firm. They are:
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.
BSET Price
Bassett’s price per share was $15.88 at Monday’s market close. In the past year, Bassett’s share price fell $1.16 or about 6.8%.
If Bassett stock trades in the range of $6.00 to $36.00 this next year, its recent $15.88 share price might rise to $20.00 by next year. My upside estimate of $4.12 is $7.00 under the median of price estimates from two analysts tracking Bassett for brokers.
BSET Dividend
Bassett’s most recent quarterly dividend of $0.16 is payable on May 26, 2023. The ex-dividend date is May 11. You have a month to act.
BSET Returns
Adding the $0.64 annual estimated BSET dividend to my $4.12 estimated price upside reveals a $4.76 potential gross gain per share.
At Monday’s $15.88 closing price, a little over $1000 would buy 63 shares.
A $10 broker fee (if charged), paid half at purchase and half at the sale, might cost us $0.16 per share.
Subtracting that maybe $0.16 brokerage cost from my estimated $4.76 gross price gain estimate makes a net amount of $4.60 X 63 shares = $289.80 or a 28.9% net gain.
In the next year, our $1K investment in shares of BSET will generate $40.30 in dividends. Furthermore, a single share of BSET at Monday’s $15.88 price is nearly 3 times less than the annual dividend income from $1000.00 invested.
So, by my dogcatcher ideal, this is a prime time to consider BSET shares, based on their dividends for 2023. The dividend from $1k invested is 2.54 times greater than the BSET single share price. Consider yourself alerted.
All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of investment in shares of Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its future market value.
