Perrigo Co PLC, known by the ticker symbol PRGO,  is a mid-cap specialty and generic drug manufacturer, operating in the healthcare business sector. This is my first report on PRGO for any of my seven dog of the week portfolios.

Perrigo is the leading provider of over-the-counter generic drugs with over 100 global locations.

The company was formed in 1887 as a packager of home remedies and has grown with the migration of prescriptions switching to OTC and later with strategic acquisitions.

The company has a portfolio of more than 3,000 product formulations and 14,000 stock-keeping units. Most of its manufacturing and customer base reside in North America.

With the most recent management change, the company announced a narrower focus on consumer wellness in conjunction with the divestiture of animal health, acquisition of Ranir Global Holdings, and plans to sell or spin off its prescription business.

In addition, it offers contract manufacturing services.

Perrigo Company plc was founded in 1887 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

Three key data points gauge any dividend equity or fund such as Perrigo Co PLC, (PRGO):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

PRGO Price

Perrigo's price per share was $37.54 as of yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $43.09. Therefore PRGO's share price fell $5.55 or nearly 13% in the past year.

If PRGO's stock trades in the range of $35.00 to $55.00 this next year, its recent $37.54 share price might rise by $12.46 to reach $50.00  by February 9, 2023. This estimate is $4.75 under the median of one year target single share prices from 4 analysts tracking the stock for their brokerage houses.

PRGO Dividends

Perrigo's most recent quarterly dividend of $0.24 was paid to shareholders December 21st, to those on record as of December 2nd.  The PRGO estimated Annual dividend payout per share of $0.96 yields 2.56% per yesterday's $37.54. closing price.

PRGO has paid quarterly dividend payouts increasing annually since February, 2003. That stretch marked 19 years this month.

PRGO Returns

Adding the $0.96 annual estimated PRGO forward-looking dividend to its estimated one-year price upside of $12.46 shows a $13.42 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade PRGO shares.

At yesterday's $37.54 price per share, a little over $1000 would buy 27 shares.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at sale and might cost us about $0.37 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.37 brokerage cost from my estimated $13.42 gross gain estimate per share results in a net gain of $13.05 X 27 shares = $352.35 for a 35.2% net gain on a $1,013.58 investment.

So it is that Perrigo Co PLC, (PRGO) shows a possible 35.2% net gain including a 2.56% forward estimated dividend yield.

Over the next year at this time our $1000 investment in Perrigo Co PLC, (PRGO) could generate $25.60 in cash dividends alone. Note that a single share of PRGO stock bought at yesterday's share price of $37.54 is nearly $10 more than the dividend income from $1000.00 invested. So, by my dogcatcher ideal, now is not the time to pickup Perrigo Co PLC (PRGO) shares. The estimated next-year dividend from $1K invested is $9.94 less than PRGO's single share price. Consider yourself alerted. Its a sign!  Wait for PRGO shares to pull back to $31.00.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Perrigo Co PLC (PRGO). Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its market value.
