Daily Report: Culp (CULP)

Culp Inc known by the ticker symbol CULP,  is a nano-cap textile manufacturing company, operating in the consumer cyclical business sector. This is my second report on CULP for this Viital stock portfolio. I last reviewed it on November 27th.

Culp Inc manufacturers, sources, and markets mattress fabrics and sewn covers used for covering mattresses and box springs and upholstery fabrics including cut and sewn kits used in the production of upholstered furniture.

The company has two operating segments: (1) Mattress fabrics and (2) Upholstery fabrics. The mattress fabrics segment, also known as Culp Home Fashions, manufactures and markets mattress fabrics and mattress covers to bedding manufacturers. The upholstery fabrics segment markets fabrics for residential and commercial furniture, including jacquard woven fabrics, velvets, micro denier suedes, woven dobbies, knitted fabrics, piece-dyed woven products, and polyurethane leather look fabrics.

Culp, Inc. was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in High Point, North Carolina.

Three key data points gauge any dividend equity or fund such as Culp Inc (CULP):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

CULP Price

Culp Inc's price per share was $8.71 as of Yesterday's market close. One year ago its price was $15.45. Therefore CULP's share price fell $6.74 or just over 43.6% in the past year.

If CULP's stock trades in the range of $8.00 to $12.00 this next year, its recent $8.71 share price might rise by $0.168 to reach $8.87  by February 3, 2023. This estimate matches the average CULP share price increase of the past twenty years.

Culp Inc 's most recent quarterly dividend of $0.115 was paid to shareholders January 19th, to those on record as of January 10th. The CULP estimated Annual dividend payout per share of $0.46 yields 5.28% per yesterday's $8.87. closing price.

CULP Dividends

CULP has paid  quarterly dividend payouts increasing annually since January ,1992. That stretch marked 30 years this month.

CULP Returns

Adding the $0.46 annual estimated CULP forward-looking dividend to its estimated one-year share price upside of $0.158 shows a $0.62 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade CULP shares.

At yesterday's $8.71 price per share, a little over $1000 would buy 115 shares.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at sale and might cost us about $0.09 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.09 brokerage cost from my estimated $0.62 gross gain estimate per share results in a net gain of $0.53 X 115 shares = $60.95 for a 6.09% net gain on a $1,001.65 investment.

So it is that Culp Inc (CULP) shows a possible 6.09% net gain including a 5.28% forward estimated dividend yield.

Over the next year at this time our $1000 investment in Culp Inc (CULP) could generate $52.80 in cash dividends alone. Note that a single share of CULP stock bought at yesterday's share price of $8.71 is over 6 times under the dividend income from $1000.00 invested. So, by my dogcatcher ideal, now is an excellent point to pickup Culp Inc (CULP) shares. The estimated next-year dividend from $1K invested is 6.06 times more than CUKP's single share price. Consider yourself alerted. Its a sign!

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Culp Inc (CULP). Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its market value.
