Founded on March 27, 2012, and headquartered in Findlay, OH, MPLX LP (MPLX) operates midstream energy infrastructure and logistics assets, and distribution fuels services.

It operates through two segments: (1) Crude Oil and Products Logistics; (2) Natural Gas and NGL Services.

Three key data points gauge MPLX or any dividend-paying entity, namely:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

MPLX Price

MPLX LP share price increased 8.4% last year from  $44.32 to $48.05 per Monday’s market price. Thirteen analysts cover the stock.

The median gain of their annual price targets for the coming year was $8.63.

That average would put the MPLX stock price for 2026 at $56.79. Of course, the price could also stay flat or decline.

MPLX Dividends

MPLX LP has paid quarterly dividends since May 17, 2013. A current forward-looking annual dividend of $3.84 yields 7.97%.

MPLX Returns

Putting it all together, a $9.84 estimated gross gain per share shows up when adding MPLX’s annual $3.84 dividend to an estimated $6.00 annual price gain.

A little over $1000 invested at the recent $48.16 share price would buy 21 shares which, multiply the $9.84 estimated gross gain to $202.30 for the coming year.

Over one-third of that $202 gain comes from the annual $79.70 dividend generated from your $1,000 investment.

Furthermore, the $79.70 annual dividend income from $1,000 invested is over 1.65 times greater than the recent $48.20 single-share price.

(A dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a stock that pay an annual dividend from $1000 invested that is greater than the cost of a single share.)

One point six is more than one.

Therefore, you could choose to pounce on MPLX LP with its nearly two times the share price payout.

The exact track of MPLX’s future share price and dividends will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
