Founded on May 3, 2007, and headquartered in Athens, Greece, Global Ship Lease, Inc. (GSL) is a holding company.

It owns and charters out containerships under long-term and fixed-rate charters to container shipping companies.

It focuses on the operation and technical management of each vessel, such as crewing,  lubricating, periodic dry docking, maintaining the vessel, and conforming to governing regulations.

Three key data points gauge GSL or any dividend-paying entity, namely:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

GSL Price

Global Ship Leases single share price increased 64% from $22.01 to $36.11 last year, per Tuesday’s market price.

Three analysts cover the stock, and the median of their one-year price target was up $1.41 to $37.67

However, the GSL share price showed an average one-year gain of $2.575 over the past 5 years.

GSL Dividends

Global Ship Lease has paid variable quarterly dividends since June 2021.

It paid a $0.535 average Quarterly dividend totaling $2.14 for the year 2025.

So, $2.14 is used as GSL’s forward-looking dividend amount for 2026.

GSL Returns

Putting it all together, a hypothetical $4.14 estimated gross gain per share shows up when adding GSL’s annual $2.14 dividend to the average $2.00 annual price gain between historic records and analyst estimates,

A little over $1000 invested at Tuesday’s $36.11 share price would buy 28 shares which, multiply the $4.14 estimated gross gain to $114.65 for the coming year.

About 52% of that $115 gain comes from an annual dividend payout of $59.30.

And that $59.30 dividend from $1k invested is near 64% greater than Global Ship Leases $36.11 single share price.

(The dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a stock that pay an annual dividend from $1000 invested that is greater than the cost of a single share.)

64% is more than 0%.

Therefore, you may choose to pounce on GSL and its annual dividend payout of 64% over its single share price.

The exact track of Global Ship Leasefuture share price and dividends will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
