Current Analysis: BNP Paribas (BNPQY)

The merger of Banque Nationale de Paris and Paribas created BNP Paribas in 2000, making it the largest publicly traded bank in France.

Although BNP Paribas has operations in about 80 countries, it considers France, Italy, and Belgium to be its home markets.

The company formerly known as Banque Nationale de Paris merged and changed its name to BNP Paribas SA in May 2000.

The company was founded in 1822 and is headquartered in Paris, France.

Three key data points gauge BNP Paribas SA ( ) or any dividend-paying firm.

The key three are: (1) Price (2) Dividends (3) Returns.

Those three basic keys best tell whether any company has made, is making, and will make money.

BNPQY Price

Over the past year, BNP Paribas share price rose about 24% from $32.51 to $33.29 as of Friday’s market close.

If BNPQY trades in the range of $27.00 to $47.00 this next year, its recent $33.29 share price might rise to $43.00 by next year. Of course, BNP Paribass price could drop about the same $9.71 estimated amount, or more.

My annual upside estimate of $9.71 however, is $3.70 under the median one year target estimates from the two analysts tracking the major European bank for brokers.

BNPQY Dividend

BNP Paribas has paid variable annual dividends since June, 2007.  BNPQYs most recent annual dividend of $2.10 was declared May 9, 2023 to shareholders of record May 18th. The payout was made June 13th.

A forward looking $2.10 annual dividend yields 6.30% at Friday’s $22.29 share price.

BNPQY Returns

To put it all together, add the estimated annual dividend of $2.10 to the estimated price upside of $9.71 to find a $11.81 gross gain.

At Friday’s $33.29 share price, a little under $1000 would buy 30 shares.

A $10 broker fee (if charged), paid half at purchase and half at sale, would cost us about $0.33 per share.

Subtracting that likely $0.33 brokerage cost from the $11.81 gross gain produces a net gain of $11.48 X 30 shares = $344.40 for a 34.4% estimated net gain.

You might choose to pounce on BNP Paribas It is a 202 year-old Paris based European Regional Bank.

Furthermore, the estimated $63.00 of annual dividend income from $1k invested is 1.89 times greater than BNP Paribas’s recent $33.29 single share price.

The exact track of BNP Paribas ongoing future price and dividend will be determined by market action.

Remember, the true value of any stock is best realized through personal ownership of shares.
