Cannabis Central: Sector Up 11.2% On Thursday Vs. 6.2% For The S&P 500
It has been a long time coming but the cannabis sector finally significantly outperformed the S&P 500 11.2% to 6.2% on Thursday. 18 of the 40 non-penny stocks in the sector surpassed the sector average while only 4 pot stocks declined. This is the 6th straight day the sector has increased. It begs the question: "Has the sector finally made a turnaround?"
Thursday was a big day for the likes of
- Tilray (TLRY), Hexo (HEXO) and Abacus (ABCS) which were up 56.8%, 34.9% and 30.6%, respectively;
- Sundial (SNDL), Pyxus (PYX) and Village Farms (VFF) which were up 28.0%, 25.5% and 20.8%, respectively;
- Aurora (ACB), Greenlane (GNLN), Akerna (KERN) and Medicine Man (MDCL) which up 18.9%, 18.5%, 18.5% and 17.5%, respectively;
- FSD Pharma (HUGE), Kushco (KSHB), Alcanna (LQSIF) and GrowGeneration (GRWG) which were up 15.9%, 15.7%, 15.7% and 15.5%, respectively; while
- Innovative Properties (IIPR), Corbus (CRBP), Charlotte's Web (CWBHF) and Curaleaf (CURLF) exceeded the sector average increase by 13.4%, 13.2%, 11.4% and 11.3%, respectively.
Harvest Health (HRVSF), MediPharm (LABS), GW Pharma (GWPH) and XPhyto (XPHYF) showed weakness declining 18.5%, 7.9%, 2.6% and 1.2%, respectively.
The remaining 19 pot stocks increased in price by between 11.0% and 1.2%. Within that group are 3 stocks worthy of mention: Aphria (APHA) +11.0%, Acreage (ACRGF) +10.8% and Cronos (CRON) +10.5%.
