Three key data points gauge dividend equities or funds like LTC Properties Inc (LTC):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.
LTC Price
LTC Properties Inc price per share closed at $42.94 Friday. One year ago its price was $31.96 Price per share has grown about 34% since a month after last-year's Covid market slump.
Should LTC Properties Inc stock trade in the range of $32.00 to $48.00 this year, its recent $42.94 price might rise by $1.06 to reach $44.00 by April 26, 2022. My estimate is over $4.00 higher than the YChart historic multiple valuation or the median of ten estimates from analysts tracking LTC.
LTC Dividends
LTC Properties' most recent monthly dividend paid March 31, was $0.19 which equates to $2.28 annually yielding 5.31% at yesterday's $42.94 closing price. LTC has paid monthly dividends increasing annually since March 2009; that's twelve years of dividend history.
LTC Returns
Adding the $2.28 annual LTC forward looking dividend to my $1.06 price upside estimate shows a $3.34 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.
If we put little under $1,000.00 today in LTC Properties Inc at $42.94 per share, we'd buy 23 shares.
A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at sale and might cost us about $0.43 per share.
Subtract that maybe $0.43 brokerage cost from my estimated 3.34 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $2.91 X 23 shares = $66.93 for a 6.7% net gain on a $987.62 investment.
Thus, LTC Properties Inc (LTC) shows a possible 6.7% net gain including a 5.31% forward looking dividend yield.
Over the next year at this time a $1000 investment in LTC might generate $53.10 in cash dividends. And a single share bought at yesterday's closing price was about $43! So, if LTC is your kind of healthcare property investment, their single share price is $10 under the expected annual dividend income from $1,000 invested. This suggests now is the time to consider adding LTC Properties to your holdings.
All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of LTC Properties Inc (LTC). Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
