Who can help me with my taxes is a question I get often. Today, I had the opportunity to talk with Alex Davis, CPA, , CFP® , about which accounting profession is best suited to help people solve their tax problems with the Internal Revenue Service, a State Tax Authority, or a Municipal Tax Authority. When it comes to solving any tax problems, the public tends to think of a CPA or a certified public accountant but not many people think of an EA or an enrolled agent. This could be harmful to the public because they don't understand the roles of both credentials and who to leverage to solve their tax problems.
