Sensex Today Trades Lower; Nifty Below 25,600

Asian markets traded higher on Monday as investors analysed details on trade negotiations and key economic data in the region.

US stock market ended higher on Friday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq recording their all-time closing highs.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 216 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 50 points lower.

Trent, Tata Motors, and  SBI are among the top gainers today.

Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank, and Barti Airtel, on the other hand,d are among the top losers today.

The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.2% higher, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.6% higher.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the oil & gas sector and the services sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the telecommunications sector and the real estate sector witness selling pressure.

The rupee is trading at Rs 85.4 against the US dollar.
 

Mazagon Dock Acquires Colombo Dockyard Stake

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders announced that it has finalised agreements with Onomichi Dockyard Co., a major stakeholder in Colombo Dockyard.

The purchase of a majority share in Colombo Dockyard, a Sri Lankan business, has been announced by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders.  According to the exchange filings, the public sector company will acquire Rs 4.5 billion (bn) to purchase at least a 51% stake in the Sri Lankan dockyard.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, an Indian defence company, builds and repairs naval ships. They are acquiring Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka to expand their business and support long-term growth. This move will help them work together and reach new markets.

Mazagon Dock expects to finalize the acquisition of Colombo Dockyard within 4 to 6 months.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, founded in 1774 in Mumbai, is a leading Indian shipyard. Over time, it's grown into a top shipbuilding company, building over 801 vessels, including warships and submarines.
 

ITD Cementation Wins Abu Dhabi Contract

On Friday, 27 June, ITD Cementation India Limited, an engineering and construction company, announced that it had won an international marine contract for jetty construction work associated with the Ruwais LNG project in Abu Dhabi, valued at Rs 5.8 bn.

The contract, according to the company, is within the regular course of its operations.

TD Cementation India announced last week that it had won two new contracts totalling about Rs 9.6 bn. The first project involves carrying out several construction projects at Kerala's Trivandrum International Airport.

The second contract is for the construction of a multi-story commercial building in Kolkata, West Bengal.

HAL FY25 Dividend Record Date Announced

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has announced a final dividend of Rs 15 per share for the financial year 2025, representing a 300% payout.

The record date to qualify for this dividend is 21 August 2025.

The government, which owns 71.64% of HAL, will get Rs 7.2 bn from the dividend payout.

HAL paid an interim dividend of Rs 25 per share in February and now a final dividend of Rs 15 per share, making two payouts for FY25. Last year, the final dividend was Rs 13 per share.

On 14 May 2025, the company revealed its Q4 results, surpassing analyst projections with a net profit of Rs 39.6 bn. Revenue was Rs 137 bn, which was also more than anticipated. By FY26, it aims to build an order book worth Rs 26,000 bn.
 

NTPC Green Powers Up Solar Unit

The shares of NTPC Green will be in focus on Monday, 30 June 2025, after the company announced the commissioning of the third and final portion of the Shajapur Solar Project's (Unit-II) 120 MW capacity out of 220 MW.

This follows the announcement earlier this year in March that the work on the 105 MW Shajapur Solar Project (Unit-I), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, had been completed by the state-owned renewable energy company. This raises the overall capacity to 325 MW.

The construction of 450 MW grid-connected ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district involves this new addition.

Unit I and Unit II of this project, which is reportedly being carried out in three units, have been completed. The third unit will have a 125 MW capacity.
