Asian markets began the final trading week of the year 2025 on a mixed note on Monday, 29 December 2025.

On Friday, the US stock market remained flat in early Asian hours on Friday. S&P 500 touched a fresh record and logged weekly gains as investors returned after the Christmas break.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 23 points higher, and the NSE Nifty is trading 4 points lower.

Tata Steel, Eternal, and Tech Mahindra are among the top gainers today.

Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, and Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.2% higher, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.1% higher.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in telecommunication and metal witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the banking sector and the financial service sector witnessed selling pressure.

The rupee is trading at Rs 89.7 against the US dollar.
 

Coforge To Acquire Encora Technology Services

Coforge Ltd. has announced plans to acquire US-based Encora Digital LLC in a deal worth about Rs 195 bn. The acquisition will be funded mainly through shares, along with a short-term loan of up to Rs 46 bn to refinance Encora's debt.

Encora provides AI-focused technology services, including building and managing AI models, data management, and digital design. It also offers an AI automation platform called AIVA.

Coforge's own AI platform, Quasar, will be strengthened by Encora's capabilities. The deal is expected to increase Coforge's North America revenue by around 50%, taking it to nearly Rs 116 bn annually.

The acquisition is expected to close within six months, subject to regulatory approvals.
 

Vikran Engineering Expands Solar Footprint Madhya Pradesh

Vikran Engineering Ltd announced that it has accepted letters of award from MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd to set up grid-connected solar power projects in Madhya Pradesh with a total capacity of 45.75 MW (AC).

These projects are part of the Surya Mitra Krishi Feeders Scheme under the PM-KUSUM program, which aims to install solar power on agricultural feeders.

The electricity generated will be sold at Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL). The projects will be built in Vidisha district, with Vikran Engineering responsible for building and operating the solar plants.

The contracts, awarded by a domestic company, will last for 25 years. The power tariff for these projects will be between Rs 2.75 and Rs 2.80 per unit.

These initiatives aim to provide solar power for agriculture and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources in the state.

Solarworld Energy Solutions Secures Major NTPC Order

Solarworld Energy Solutions has won a major EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited to develop a 250 MWac grid-connected solar project. The contract is worth Rs 7.25 bn and the project is expected to be completed by FY 2026-27, adding significantly to the company's order book.

The EPC contract covers the complete execution of the solar project, including engineering, procurement, and construction. The contract, awarded by a domestic company, includes all taxes.

This NTPC project is the latest in a series of major orders for Solarworld Energy. Earlier this month, the company also secured a large contract worth Rs 8.06 bn from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam to develop a 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Gujarat.
