Using Dividend ETFs For Dividend Stock Research

Dividend ETFs are a great place to start when researching dividend stocks. In this brief video, I was asked how to find good dividend stocks to invest in. I suggested using dividend ETFs as starting point.

Typically the investment companies that operate dividend ETFs have done the research to compile the best dividend stocks available. Your average investors can use this as a shortcut when researching dividend stocks, thus saving them time.

We use the Vanguard High Yield Dividend Yield ETF (VYM) in today’s example. Vanguard High Yield Dividend ETF VYM holds $38 billion in assets, with its top 10 dividend stock holdings being:

  1. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ).
  2. JP Morgan (JPM).
  3. Proctor & Gamble (PG).
  4. Verizon Communication (VZ).
  5. Comcast (CMCSA).
  6. Bank Of American (BAC).
  7. Pfizer (PFE).
  8. Walmart (WMT).
  9. AT&T (T).
  10. Intel (INTC).
