GM Doesn't Actually Have A Working Hummer EV, Yet

GM Reportedly Does Not Yet Have A Working Hummer EV

After General Motors Company (GMunveiled the GMC Hummer EV, GM sold out of reservations of the $112,000 Hummer EV Edition 1.

When we compared it to the Cybertruck from Tesla Inc (TSLA), the Hummer appeared quite expensive on the basics of its specs alone, although many believe it will excel at off-road tasks.

Now a report from Green Car Reports says GM has admitted they have not produced a physical, working version of the Hummer EV.

“Interestingly enough, we don’t have a vehicle yet,” chief engineer Al Oppenheiser said. “We’re building our first test vehicle as we speak; the vehicle you see in the video is our display vehicle.”

Off-road vehicles like the Hummer usually go through years of real-life drive testing. With a release date approximately one year from now, this won't be possible with the Hummer EV.

Benzinga's Take: It turns out the Hummer EV from the reveal video was simulated. This may be concerning for reservation holders, and reminds us of Nikola's Badger, which is an electric pickup truck that was available for pre-order, but has only been seen via computer rendered images.

Desperate for sure. Think about it, it didn't make sense for Nicola to do that either, but they did it anyway

So why the rush to release before #Tesla's ER? To try to steal the thunder but ending up with pie in the face. #GM should know better than that by now...or is it a desperate attempt to survive. $TSLA $GM
