Small-Cap Russell 2000 Joins In Record-Close Rally
The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all notched record closes today, with help from a Big Tech rally. Even more noteworthy, the small cap Russell 2000 (RUT) -- an index that tends to benefit from interest rate cuts -- marked an all-time closing high as well, surpassing its closing peak from November 2021. Heading into Friday, all four benchmarks are on track for weekly gains, with the RUT eyeing its seventh winning week in a row.
OIL, GOLD FALL FOR SECOND DAY AFTER RATE CUT
Oil prices eased once again for the second straight day. October-dated West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 47 cents, or 0.7%, to $63.57 per barrel.
U.S. gold futures inched lower for the second today, with December-dated gold futures dropping 1% to $3,646.70 per ounce.
