2025 S&P 500 Highlights

While there has been a lot of noise this year, the market, as represented by the S&P 500 index, kept on going higher in 2025, ending the year at +16% return. The largest drop of the year was in April 2025 with liberation day (a 20% drop) and the announcement of tariffs by the Trump administration. The trend quickly reversed course when a pause was announced.
