Your Customers’ “Why” is More Important Than Their “Want”

When customers want something, they do not hesitate to spend their money on it, however outrageous the price may be. But, if they are still uncertain, they will ask the question "why?"

When customers want something, they do not hesitate to spend their money on it, however outrageous the price may be. But, if they are still uncertain, they will ask the questions "why/" It is the work of a serviced provider to explain to the client why they need to purchase a product or service. A good example is that of a writer who is offering a homework service. Once they identify their target market, they need to convince the customer why they should spend a their hard earned money for them to have their homework done. What are the benefits of paying for homework writing?

Once a client understands that they have a need, it is easier to make them spend the funds as compared to when they are not aware. Here are some of the reasons why it is better to convince a client to get something when they ask "why" rather than to provide them with a product simply because they want it.

Asking the question “why” shows that the client does not connect the dots between two significant items; the price and the product. When they ask such a question, it shows that they need you as the business owner to elaborate on them the importance of choosing you over millions of other providers available all over the world. Take for example a company that is offering financial writer jobs. For you to find finance students who are willing to risk their money on an entity that only exists online, it will take a lot of explaining. However, this is where you need to show the person that they are in dire need of the services. Using your persuasion skills come in at this point. The aim is to provide information, not to push an idea down their throat.

Sometimes, when a client asks this question, it is because they may not be familiar with your company. What they are requesting essentially is you to let them know why they should leave the people they are used to before they can invest their funds in you. Are you faithful to your word, or are you one of the many liars who only want to pull money out of their wallet to cover the cost of producing your items? The buyer wants you to put their fears to rest by assuring them you are good at what you do, and you have the relevant qualifications and experience to back-up the statement.

Another reason why the question “why” is a good thing is that the person wants you to make them understand the relevance of purchasing the item at that particular moment. They require to know if the product will run out of stock or not. Is it necessary to get it at that time or can they wait for another time to buy what you are selling to them? It is up to you to show the relevance of your product. Deciding to will come from the hearer if they are satisfied that the details you have given them are enough.

Of what value is the item that you have at hand? Is it better than other products from competitors in the same realm? If so, what are these values that make it better than the rest? If not, what are the reasons for providing a product that is already on the shelves? Are you providing lesser charges? Are there freebies that come with buying the item?

A good business person will answer these questions before they come out of the clients’ mouth. Think ahead of them and give them details in plenty.

What Next After This

At times, the first thing that comes to one’s mind when a client makes such a request is panic. In your mind, you expect the client to read the package information and purchase the product. However, this may not be the case. Other users want testimonials if any.

As a service provider, you need to look composed. Put all your facts in points that can be used to elaborate the product value in a short time. Do not bore the individual with long notes and points. Make the presentation short and engaging as possible. Additionally, highlight the most important things about what you are selling.

Be sure to make them understand the importance of the item at hand and the relevance it has to them. More so, do not be rigid.  Be willing to take criticism and compliments whenever they come. It is through such comments that a business owner builds their reputation, and finds ways to improve on what is lacking in their providence.

Listen carefully to the person’s inquiries. Do not answer questions that they do not ask if they have follow-up queries. This is not unless you have made the point clear and you are adding information because you feel that it is essential.

Finally, explain to the customer the purchase process. What do they need to do to get it, especially if you have online stores or services? Are you going to ship the item to them? What banking options do they need to have for them to pay for the thing? Or do you avail cash on delivery if they do not have any of the variations that you offer? Do not let them figure out on themselves since this may lead them to stop the purchase, especially if t gets tough.

Conclusion

Wants can be ignored. A want is something that the person admires and wants to get a hold of but is not necessary. The person can choose not to get a particular service since it is not essential. However, if you are perfect at explaining to the customer the importance of your product, and the gap they will fill in their lives, it does not matter whether the product is essential or not. The customer will form a need for purchasing it.
