Energy drinks have been a major part of the beverage market for many years and their influence is only expanding. In 2017, the US market was at $11 billion, but it grew by $3 billion in just four years. The global energy drink market is projected to hit $225 billion by 2026.
Part of the reason for this rapid advancement is due to the widening range of varieties of energy drinks available on the market. Red Bull and Monster are still the leading drinks on the market, but that margin may be shrinking as consumers are leaning toward more health conscious options.
Many of the energy drinks and pre-workout drinks available now come with organic ingredients, less or zero sugar, and healthy additives like vitamins, minerals, and extra caffeine for athletic enhancement.
Younger Americans are still the biggest consumers for the energy drink market, and their demands for healthier options are driving the current trends.
