On Thursday, Yahoo! Inc YHOO and TouchPal entered into a strategic partnership to offer the former’s mobile search capabilities to the latter’s Android users.
Yahoo Search in Apps
Yahoo launched ‘Yahoo Search in Apps’ at its mobile developer conference in February. Since the launch Yahoo has been entering into alliances for the same.
Partnership with TouchPal is an extension of the effort. This partnership will allow users to access Yahoo's search engine straight from the keyboard app without switching to a browser.
With one click, users can share a link from the search results whether using the TouchPal Keyboard with email, text or any other app. Users may share images, videos and links as well as translate messages into 40 languages.
Michael Wong, CEO of TouchPal, is of the opinion that this affiliation is a game changer, and has the “potential to advance the way people interact with their smartphones.”
According to Ian Weingarten, senior vice president, Head of Global Partnerships at Yahoo, “We're excited to integrate Yahoo search into TouchPal's keyboard to enhance their users' experience and provide new monetization opportunities."
The TouchPal Keyboard is one of the most popular smartphone keyboard apps in the U.S. with nearly 16 million daily active users.
Yahoo has a Zacks Rank # 3 (Hold).
