Turpitude encompasses more than just malevolent antisocial acts like murder or theft. It extends to demonstrators who strike out against law enforcement officers, rejecting ethical and moral norms in favor of personal political ideologies contrary to those of the United States. The law defines moral turpitude as any immoral or depraved act committed against another individual. Assault, theft, fraud, and crimes that cause bodily harm or seek to deprive others are all examples of moral turpitude.
For non-citizens to face deportation due to moral turpitude convictions, specific conditions must be met. These convictions must have occurred since their arrival in the United States on a visa, with at least two such convictions having taken place. Additionally, crimes committed within the first five years of admission that carry a potential sentence of one year or more can lead to deportation.
