As AI adoption accelerates, jobs centered on repetitive and routine tasks may become increasingly vulnerable to automation through robots and advanced AI systems. Companies with large labor forces stand to benefit the most from these productivity gains, with Walmart (WMT) and Amazon (AMZN) leading the way. Walmart employs approximately 2.1 million people worldwide, while Amazon has a workforce of roughly 1.5 million. Given the labor-intensive nature of their operations, even modest improvements in automation could significantly reduce costs and improve efficiency at scale. However, these gains may come with trade-offs, as widespread automation could displace workers in roles that are easily replicated by AI and robotics, potentially reshaping the labor market and increasing the need for retraining.
