What The Top 0.1% Owns That The Bottom 50% Doesn’t

Hint: It's not real estate.

The top 0.1% allocates the largest share of its net worth to equities and mutual funds, followed by private businesses and other financial assets. Among the top 10% of Americans, a greater portion of wealth is held in defined benefit pension entitlements and real estate. In contrast, the bottom 50% holds a larger share of its wealth in consumer durable goods and real estate. Together, these differences underscore how strongly wealth composition, and concentration, varies across groups.
