What Releases Will We Miss?

Many key economic releases—from PPI and state employment to GDP advance estimates—will be missed during a 31-day government shutdown, deepening the data blackout just when clarity is most needed.

Kalshi has the shutdown lasting 29.4 days as of now, was up to 31.1 days earlier.

Here’s the BLS calendar for a 31 day shutdown (circled in blue).
 


So, even with a limited call-up for CPI, we’ll miss PPI, import and export price indices, state employment/unemployment, metro area employment/unemployment, Business Employment Dynamics, and the annual Consumer Expenditures release, and the Employment Cost Index.
