After hitting rock bottom in April, the economy has really rebounded in the United States and over the last two months, the US has created over 7.5 million jobs.

After hitting rock bottom in April, the economy has really rebounded in the United States and over the last two months, the US has created over 7.5 million jobs. Now, that’s a fantastic outcome. That’s, I think, far better than anyone could really have hoped possible, back in March, when we were at the height of the pandemic fears.

Officially, there are seventeen and three quarter million Americans classified as unemployed. But to be classified as unemployed, you have to be actively searching for work today. But the rules for claiming unemployment benefit have actually been relaxed, and you don’t need to be searching for work today to be able to claim those benefits. So, therefore, we need to look at that number. And that figure is actually thirty-one and a half million people.
