Top Upcoming Data Centers in Sweden 2025

The Global Data Center Market Report from Blackridge Research says that as of the third quarter of 2025, European data centers can deliver 5,023 MW of European colocation space. We put together a list of the most important data centers that will open in Sweden in 2025 in this blog.

The data centers in Sweden are a big part of making the country a global hub for data and communication. Sweden is still helping to grow the European data center market and the digital transformation by working on big new data center projects like the Strängnäs AI data center, EcoDataCenter 2 in Borlänge, and AtNorth's Langsele Data Center project.

The Global Data Center Market Report from Blackridge Research says that as of the third quarter of 2025, European data centers can deliver 5,023 MW of European colocation space. By the end of the year, the data center builders are scheduled to add 871 MW of new capacity, which is 34% more than the total data center capacity in 2024. We put together a list of the most important data centers that will open in Sweden in 2025 in this blog.

Strängnäs AI data center:

On June 4, 2025, Brookfield Asset Management said it would spend 95 billion kronor (USD 9.9 billion) to develop an AI data center. Strängnäs, Sweden, will be home to the data center. The business wants to quadruple the anticipated capacity from 300 MW to 750 MW over the next 10 to 15 years with this investment.

To make room for the bigger data center, the business aims to buy 350,000 square meters of land near Strängnäs. This is one of Brookfield's biggest AI investments in Europe. The project combines moving data, storing chips, and making energy. The project is now at the announced stage, and further information is expected soon.

Borlänge's EcoDataCenter 2:

EcoData Center is creating an AI-powered data center that can hold 250 MW of data at first. The data center is being built on the site of the old Kvarnsveden paper mill in Dalarna, Sweden. It will cover 20 acres. The former Kvarnsveden paper mill was bought by the firm in 2024.

The EcoDataCenter in Borlänge will run entirely on renewable energy. The data center is built to provide enterprise-level computing power while being environmentally friendly, efficient, and able to grow. The project will start with a capacity of 250 MW and then grow to 600 MW in later phases.

The project started on September 24, 2025, and the first data center is expected to be finished in early 2027.

Langsele Data Center at AtNorth:

AtNorth built the Langsele Data Center, which has a PUE of 1.2 and a capacity of 200 MW. The business bought a 30-hectare land in Långsele, Sweden, for the data center in December 2024.

The project will cost about $100 million to build. The AtNorth Langsele Data Center will have N+1 redundancy for its liquid cooling system. The project plans are still in the works as of 2025, and work is being done on a new detailed plan.

The project is anticipated to start building in the second quarter of 2026 and finish in 2027.

The Marviken Data Center from EdgeMode:

In October 2025, EdgeMode struck a deal with Colliers International Property Consultants Limited ("Colliers") to build an AI-ready data center in Marviken, Sweden. The project will take place on a 20,000 m² freehold property. It will start with a capacity of 20 MW and grow to 95 MW by the end of 2026.

Colliers will be the only advisor and strategic partner in finding tenants, investors, joint venture partners, and financial solutions for the project, according to the agreement.

At first, the phase 1 deployment was supposed to be a 15 MW IT Load, with 1 MW going live in March 2025, 2 MW going live in June, and a full 12 MW rollout by September 2025. Phase 2 includes expanding to reach 68 MW IT Load for more AI and Cloud Enterprise clients by 2026. Phase 3 intends to go beyond 500 MW, adding more land and next-generation power technologies including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) for long-term sustainability.

EcoDataCenter 1 in Falun:

The EcoData Center 1, or Falun Data Center, is at Slaggvarpsvägen 21, 791 77 Falun, Sweden. The data center can hold 80 MW of data. It gets 75% of its power from hydropower and 25% from wind power, with a PUE of 1.2.

This is the first data center in the world made of wood. In September 2025, EcoData Center said it will borrow EUR 600 million (USD 703 million) to grow its data centers in Sweden and finish the Falun data center project expansion.

The Falun data center opened in 2019, and in 2023 the firm said it will be expanding the project. The first phase of the expansion is expected to be finished by the third quarter of 2024. By 2027, the Falun Data Center should be bigger.

In conclusion:

The country is quickly growing its data center industry and becoming a stronger player in the global data center market. Some of the biggest future data centers are the Brookfield Strängnäs AI Data Center, EcoDataCenter 2 in Borlänge, AtNorth's Långsele Data Center, and more.

As demand for AI, advanced servers, and high-performance computing grows, global companies like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Digital Realty are putting money into these areas. This expansion is therefore pushing for better use of power and new digital infrastructure across the country.
