The Growth of Live Video

A look at the present and future growth of live video.

The internet has gone through several mediums. First, text dominated the world wide web. Then, it was images. Now, it is video. Users like to watch news, entertainment, and events happen in real time. Within the video category is live video feed, a rapidly spreading sub-medium of online content. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a minute of online video is worth 1.8 million. Live video requires a great deal of bandwidth, but modern devices are increasingly rising to the challenge in quality and privacy.

By 2028, global revenue from live video will reach $184 billion. That’s because live streaming is gaining popularity with consumers. 79% of those surveyed interact with live video at least once per week. It goes beyond the streaming of games, shows, or music. Businesses appreciate live video for conference calling and interviews. Healthcare is increasingly embracing telehealth visits with patients via webcam.
