The First Big One

Alphabet and Tesla headline tonight’s earnings, with market focus shifting toward Google’s consistent growth over Tesla’s waning influence.

Now that we’re done with the boring part of the earnings season, tonight the good stuff starts. The two biggies are TSLA and GOOGL, but whereas TSLA used to be practically the entire focus of the stock market half a decade ago, these days it’s a bit of a shoulder shrug. Most attention will be on Alphabet, or like most people call it, Google:


I have no position in this, because I normally find the chart fairly inscrutable. It is a huge, well-managed company, and even with my red-tinted glasses, I don’t see anything bearish about it. Of course, I’d love to see some kind of shock event, but this thing is in a steady, unbroken uptrend, and my hunch is that it’ll pop a little higher and continue to be boring and steady.
