The Canadian dollar has received some good news lately. Commodity prices have been strengthening, especially energy prices, and of course, there has recently been a much sunnier tone concerning the outcome from the NAFTA negotiations.
As the accompanying chart illustrates, the Canadian dollar has recently jumped up close to the 80 cents U.S., a level it hasn’t occupied for some time.
President Donald Trump was recently pushing for a preliminary North American Free Trade Agreement deal to be ready as soon as mid-April.
