The kind of city they decide to live in will determine the price they would have to pay for accommodation.

We recently embarked on a mission to find out the best cities that could be used for affordable accommodation by workers in the financial sector. We gathered data from the Bureau of labour statistics from 2015 on the availability of jobs and the annual median salary for business and finance positions listed according to Metro area. The data provided is based on median one-bedroom rent prices according to the city listed above.

Job density data was weighted at 75% and rent to income ratio was weighed at 25% to determine the ultimate score for every city and rank the metros accordingly.

Given below are the best cities to live in the US for Millennial’s in the financial sector.

Washington DC scores high on the list of cities with a score of 7.79 and a job density of 102.74 against 1000 jobs. The median rent in Washington DC is $2261 while the median salary is $87,300.

San Francisco California stands at number two position with a score of 6.91 and a job density of 97.06 against 1000 jobs. The median rent is $3269 and the median salary offered is $87,480.

Sacramento, California is number three on the list with a score of 6.03 and a job density of 80.86 against 1000 jobs. The median rent is affordable in Sacramento at just $1178 but the median salary offered is also $69,680. Denver Colorado holds the number four position on the list with a score of 5.76 and a job density of 79.54 for every thousand jobs. The median rent in Denver is $1334 and the median salary offered is $71,670.

Seattle Washington stands at number five on the list with a score of 5.52 and a job density of 79.81 against every one thousand jobs which are available. The median rent in Seattle is $1765 while the median salary being offered is $75,250.

Richmond Virginia and Durham North Carolina along with Detroit Michigan also figure on the list of cities we have compiled as being more affordable than the ones mentioned above. However, the median salary offered by these cities is also lower and therefore we haven't provided the information in detail.
