Life as we know it has been completely thrown on its head in recent months thanks to the ongoing ripple effects of come hand-in-hand with the weight of the coronavirus pandemic.
In the foreign exchange market, for instance, the value of currencies is of course always at the mercy of an ebb and flow system of chaos. In recent months, however, the foreign exchange market has experienced much more tumultuous highs and lows and it has in quite some time. This is true across the board and the impact of being felt even, and especially, now. The Australian dollar is a currency that always performs for the most part quite well, however at the beginning of this year the Australian dollar faced some of its toughest months as the coronavirus threw the economic stability of the nation, and in turn its currency, into chaos.
Finally, however, it seems that we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This week, the Australian dollar has been gaining valuable momentum as it has strengthened with the improvement in risk appetite that surrounds the currency. Ahead of the RBA’s most recent decision this Tuesday, it was not necessarily certain how the Australian dollar was going to fare. The Australian dollar began to rise in value as the US dollar struggled. It is an exchange that is not necessarily unheard of, however it is an exchange that has powered forward the value of the Australian dollar more than some thought possible during these uncertain times.
It is, of course, a much-needed change for the Australian dollar and the Australian economy, as this currency has faced some of its lowest lows in recent history. While in the beginning of the year investors in the Australian dollar were beginning to take a step back to see how then coming months would enold, we are now beginning to see the start of economic recovery and in turn the hiding value of the Australian dollar as other countries continue to struggle with the value of their dollar and the state of their economic downfall and it's eventual healing process. The Australian dollar today is more valuable than it has been in quite some time.
Heading Into the next week's and especially the next months, there is no certainty of just how the Australian dollar is going to continue to unfold in value and consequence. However, if recent history has taught us anything, it is that the Australian economy’s willingness and capability to rise above the challenges and continue to find itself in a position of advantageous power in even the most unstable circumstances is it's biggest asset. The Australian dollar is in a position of power this week and it will be interesting to see how long this positive rain lasts.
