It is no secret that every industry around the globe today has dealt with its fair share of transformation in recent months. As individuals around the globe are forced to stay home and entertain themselves there, and due to the immense ups and downs that the foreign exchange market has experienced as of late, the entire world has been turned upside down. In the finance industry specifically, for instance, there has been a significantly more drastic transition as currencies from around the globe have struggled to maintain their footing even more so than usual.
Take the Australian dollar, for instance. The Australian dollar is a currency that typically goes through ebbs and flows, like any other currency, but that tends to hold quite strongly in and of itself for the most part and in most cases. The impact of the pandemic, however, has caused the Australian borders (like most other countries) to slam shut, and in turn the strong performance of the Australian dollar that we were starting to see slammed into the ground as well. This past week and a half especially has proven to be a struggle for many currencies around the globe, the Australian dollar being one of these many currencies that has struggled. For now, it seems that the Australian dollar is performing less than ideally.
Earlier during this last week, the Australian dollar’s value sat at an unfortunate low, especially when in collaboration with the US dollar. Of course, all currencies have been going through decidedly strongly ebbs and flows in recent months. However, for the Australian dollar it seems that the currency cannot catch a break. Every time that it arcs back up, it is slammed back down as soon as it begins to rise again. This past week has been a perfect example of this fact. The Australian dollar is struggling in the foreign exchange market this week and at this point in time there is no telling exactly when it is going to find its next strong spell again.
Heading into a fresh week ahead, there is hope that the Australian dollar will at the very least rise a little bit to sit higher than it has been. However, realistically there is just no sure way to tell either way how it is going to unfold and ultimately pan out. Investors and the world in general are waiting with bated breath to see how this next week presents the value of the Australian dollar both in and of itself and in alignment with other currencies around the globe. We are more than likely going to be faced with a few more weeks at the very least of certain struggle, however ideally we are going to see a shift in the right direction (i.e. upwards) in the coming weeks that tips the value of the Australian dollar back into the green.
