The Dow and S&P 500 finished modestly higher, while the small cap Russell 2000 (RUT) logged its best single-session gain since June 18. Investors are once more eyeing the Middle East, after MS Now reported Qatar and Pakistan are working to get the U.S. and Iran back to the negotiating table.

Oil Takes its Cues From (Cautious) Middle East Optimism

Oil prices moved lower amid hopes of a resolution between the U.S. and Iran. August-dated West Texas Intermediate (WTI) shed 2% to $72.08 per barrel.

Gold prices moved higher as the safe-haven asset reacts to yesterday's Fed meeting minutes that indicated some fiscal tightening may be needed in 2026. August-dated gold futures added 1.3% to $4,134.10 per ounce.
