Simply Healthcare Plans and Healthcare Network have launched a joint statewide initiative aimed at broadening prenatal care access for women in underserved and rural communities across Florida. Utilizing Healthcare Network’s Van Domelen Health Express mobile unit, the project brings direct maternal medical services, health education, and essential social support directly into local neighborhoods. The mobile clinic tour will travel from South Florida through the Panhandle through May 2027, focusing on regions where traditional healthcare facilities remain difficult to reach.

The mobile unit offers essential clinical services at no cost, including pregnancy screenings, non-diagnostic ultrasounds, and comprehensive prenatal and postnatal health guidance. Beyond medical checkups, staff assists families by connecting them with critical non-clinical resources, such as housing assistance, food support, and local transportation options. Local community health centers coordinate patient outreach and appointment scheduling to ensure ongoing medical support remains available long after the mobile unit transitions to its next location.

Reversing Florida's Declining Early Prenatal Care Rates

The statewide project comes as health agencies address noticeable declines in early pregnancy interventions throughout Florida. Recent statistics from the Florida Department of Health highlight that first-trimester prenatal care rates dropped from 76.1% in 2020 down to 68.9% in 2024. Early medical visits allow physicians and clinical specialists to monitor maternal and fetal development, detect potential risks early, and provide timely interventions that significantly improve birth outcomes.
