Starbucks and the F-Word

We wanted to start the new year off with a bit of humor. What better way than with this ingeniously funny letter that one small business owner sent in response to a cease and desist letter from Starbucks.

Most small business owners would have cowered or panicked had they received a cease and desist letter from a Starbucks attorney.  But not Jeff Britton.  Mr. Britton, owner of Exit 6 Pub and Brewery, turned the tables on Starbucks with this ingeniously funny letter... and a check for $6.  Copies of which he posted to his facebook page along with the following story:

"So quick little story. Last week I received a cease and desist letter from the attorneys at Starbucks. Apparently there was a beer on Untappd that someone named "Frappicino". 3 people had checked into said beer. 3. Starbucks didn't like that. ...So I got a letter. They wanted me to remove the beer and promise never to use their names again. They also wanted my written response and guarantee. Here is their letter. And also my response."

Copies of the letter he received and his response, courtesy of Britton's Facebook page follow. They are well worth the read:

Britton capitalized on a truly David and corporate Goliath story, shaming the coffee house giant and earning the kind of publicity for himself that money can't buy. We expect Britton's pub to get far more patronage in the near future.

Happy New Year!
