Tech was the story to end a choppy week on Wall Street. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 once again nabbed record closes and secured their fourth-straight weekly win. The tech-heavy latter added 398-points, as investors cheered Intel (INTC) earnings. The Dow wasn't as lucky, finishing roughly 80-points lower and logging its first weekly loss of the month. As investors monitor Middle East headlines, the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX) closed below 20 for the 12th-straight day.
Oil Cools Off Ahead of U.S.-Iran Talks This Weekend
Oil prices settled lower to end the week, as black gold cools ahead of Middle East talks over the weekend. June-dated West Texas Intermediate (WTI) shed 2.2% to finish at $93.73 per barrel. For the week, oil gained 10%.
Gold prices were cautiously higher today ahead of a pivotal weekend for geopolitics and safe-haven assets. June-dated gold added 0.3% to settle at $4,741.30 an ounce. Gold lost 2% on the week.
