The market reacted to the CPI (and other recent developments) by pretty much doing nothing. That in itself was a vote on how inflationary consumer prices are being. A good example of why comes from the latest results for an important industry suffering both ends of the current environment - costs going up but being unable to pass them along. That's not inflation.
