Sensex Today Trades Lower; Nifty Below 22,700

Indian share markets are trading lower with the Sensex trading 177 points lower, and the Nifty is trading 22 points lower.

Asian markets traded higher on Monday as investors watched out for the latest developments in the US-Iran war.

US stock market ended mixed on Thursday as diplomatic signals from the Middle East helped calm markets.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 177 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 22 points lower.

HCL Tech, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra are among the top gainers today.

Kotak Mahindra, Sun Pharma, and Adani Ports, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.4% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.8% lower.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the oil & gas sector and the services sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in the metal sector and the IT sector witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 93 against the US dollar.

Wipro Wins Large AI Transformation Contract

Wipro Limited has announced a long-term deal with Olam Group, a major global food and agriculture company.

The partnership will last for 8 years and could exceed $1 billion, with at least $800 million already pledged. Wipro will assist Olam in improving and modernizing its entire business using AI and technology.

This will cover important areas like farming, forecasting, trading, supply chain, and customer operations.

The goal is to make Olam more efficient, stronger, and better prepared for future growth. Wipro will leverage its AI platforms, industry experience, and tech partnerships to support this transformation across Olam's entire "farm-to-fork" value chain.

Separately, Wipro also plans to fully acquire Mindsprint, which will become its subsidiary after receiving approvals. This acquisition is expected to be finalized by June 2026.

Hindustan Zinc Reports Record Production Growth

Hindustan Zinc Limited reported its production results for the quarter and the full year ending 31 March 2026.

The company reached its highest-ever production levels. In the fourth quarter, mined metal production reached 315 kilotonnes, while total production for the year was 1,114 kilotonnes.

Refined metal production also set a record at 282 kilotonnes in the quarter. This achievement was primarily due to higher ore output, better quality ore, improved efficiency, and increased capacity at its Chanderiya and Dariba plants.

Silver production totaled 176 tonnes, growing 11% compared to the previous quarter, supported by higher lead production.

Wind power generation was 56 million units, remaining stable in line with wind conditions.

RVNL Secures Major OHE Upgrade Contract

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has secured a contract from South Central Railway to upgrade its overhead electric (OHE) system.

The project involves designing, supplying, erecting, testing, and commissioning the upgrade of the current 1X25kV system to a 2X25kV AT feeding system, along with feeder and earthing work, covering the Ongole (OGL) to Gudur (GDR) section of the Vijayawada Division.

This domestic project is scheduled for completion within 24 months, with a total cost of Rs 2.42 billion, including taxes.
